Sweat Equity

When selected, you become a "partner family". As a partner family, you will be responsible for 350 hours of sweat equity. Sweat equity is mostly done on the construction sites. Most of it will be done helping to build other peoples' homes and finally your own home. On the construction site, you may be asked to help clear the land, build walls, paint, lay tile or many other things that need to be done to help build a quality affordable home. Up to 60 hours may be earned in the ReSTORE or in the Habitat offices helping with cleaning and various clerical tasks. 160 hours may be donated by friends and family or by work groups that you organize.

Habitat for Humanity currently opens applications one time each year in each county. We are dedicated to ending poverty housing and despite our best efforts to get the information about dates out there, somehow it still does not reach everybody. If you are interested in applying for a home through our program, please contact the offices at 432-686-8877 and ask to be put on our postcard list to receive a reminder before the applications become available.
